After completing his PhD, Hiren finished his neurosurgery training in Preston and Manchester before moving to Cambridge as a Clinical Lecturer and fellow. Hiren is a now a well established Consultant Neurosurgeon in Manchester. He specialises in all aspects of brain injury including head injury (concussion) and brain haemorrhage (aneurysm, AVM, cavernoma).
He has published widely, and his research in head injury management, which featured in the Lancet, has changed the way head injuries are managed in the UK. He has a unique and wide ranging understanding of the disorders of cognition (memory, concentration) and emotion (anxiety, depression) that accompany concussion, and he uses these to offer a comprehensive service for the assessment of patients that have suffered a concussion or a brain haemorrhage.
He has experience in treating professional athletes from a wide variety of sporting backgrounds including rugby, football and boxing.
