Dr Subhasis Basu (Shub) was born in Wigan and completed his schooling at Scarisbrick Hall. He undertook his undergraduate medical studies at St. Bartholomew’s & the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of London. After working in London for several years, he moved back to the North West to complete his postgraduate radiology training in Manchester and was awarded his FRCR.
He returned to London to pursue a one-year MSK and Sports Imaging Fellowship at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Shub’s practice involves reporting plain films, CT scans and MRI scans including arthrograms, performing diagnostic and therapeutic MSK Ultrasound (USS) injections, and shoulder hydrodilatations. He has a major interest in expanding therapeutic image-guided intervention as a treatment adjunct to existing physiotherapy and surgical treatment strategies. He has a particular interest towards USS-guided intervention involving tendons and joints in both upper and lower limbs with out-patient appointments for common small joint and soft tissue injections e.g. treating tenosynovitis in the hands, thumb CMC joint OA, ganglion cyst aspirations/fenestrations and utilising a novel technique for USS-guided percutaneous release of trigger digits.
Shub is a Honorary Lecturer for the University of Salford as well as a member of the teaching faculty for the Manchester radiology training scheme. He has lectured at both national and international conferences and meetings as well as publishing in peer-reviewed literature. He is also a peer-review editor for the journal Clinical Radiology. He enjoys membership of the RCR, BSSR, ESSR and RSNA.
